Graham got hit by a Sheriff

Yup, you read that right. I, Graham, got in a accident on the way to work today. I live near Southpoint Mall near the intersection of 751 and 54 Bypass (near Jiffy Lube and a Kangaroo gas station.) Well that intersection is NASTY in the morning. Wel, I needed gas at the Kangaroo gas station to make it to work. I was in the turn lane to turn LEFT into the station. The lane on my left which was going the opposite direction was starting to backup and the guy stopped to give me enough room to get through. So I started to go through looking to my right to make sure no oncoming cars. Well as soon as I looked to my right, I just saw the Sheriff right on my passenger side rear wheel. And i got fish-tailed into the gas station. Driver side tire was flat from the impact and scracthed from the pavement. And the passenger tire now has the bolt imprints where the front license plate hit the rim. The fuel cut off switch was activated due to the impact so she wouldn't start just yet, until some one mentioned it. And i slapped on the spare tire and drove down the road to sears auto center after the report was done and all. So the driver side tire was just out of air so I got Sears to fill it back up. But since I worked a late day I was unable to get estimates on getting her fixed or pictures. So tomorrow I will try to get pictures added to this thread for everyones viewing pleasure... Now, all I hope is that the process of getting her looking great again will be easy and not a hasle with the whole claim with the sheriff dept insurance.

Let me get this straight - the oncoming traffic was two lanes and he was in his right lane and let's say "t-boned you almost"? How did he act after he hit you ? I hate to say this Graham but he's going to say that you didn't yield the right of way even though he could have slowed down and gave you a break to get through like the other guy did. Above all else I'm glad you're OK - the Mustang is fixable.

ok.. here is the traffic pattern. Five lanes of traffic, two lanes going on direction, tow lanes going the other direction, and center lane is the turn lane. I was in the center lane with my blinker on and watching traffic to my right (oncoming traffic) for a break to pull into the station.
She acted calm and all. None of us said anything to eachother really. And yeah, I guess you could say T-boned me was the right term for it.

So she was in the second lane of oncoming traffic and you pulled out in front of her?

not sure if I would put it like that, because the car on my left was stopped was letting me through and I was watching as I passed him.

well things like they will go smoothly. I called the sheriff dept today and found out who i needed to talk to. So I called her and spoke to her. She said she doesn't have the report yet, but they way they usually handle it is I get 3 estimates and they cut a check for the lowest one (if I got that correct.)
And i got the 1st estimate from a body shop I trust, and they estimated at $2996.14

oh ****, so it sounds like they are taking resbonsibility for the accident, dont forget the cost of car rental

Ok.. the sheriff dept is trying to screw me over now. Their accident report is completley false and inaccurate. The report says I crossed all 5 lanes of traffic and the offcier hit me. The sheriff that did the report NEVER asked me what happened or my side of the story which is 100% true. Looks like I am going to need a lawyer and i am in the process of finding witness'. I already have one lead on one witness, a gas station tendant.

Well my mechanic found a axle and i got th emechanical work done finally. I helped his co-worker get her back together tyo speeed up the process. Hell, i was in the area at a job site, so I had my co-worker drop me off there since my mechanic did say thet it would be done last night. So finally about 8 PM she was back together, bleed the brakes, had the 3.55 ring and pinion and tracion lock rebuild kit installed, had the new rim put on the tire since the old one got bent. And she goes into the body shop this Monday and I will be happy to have her back in good condition. Trying to find some items or pictures to sell to help pay for the repairs.
