Well I am going to Fastlane to spend about 200 smackaroos on Wednesday. Two hundred is not too much, but Christmas is close by and I want to use a little for my car. Everyone else in the family is giving me money for Christmas, but I am spending a little bit of my $$$ now. Here are the two plans I am debating to do:

#1) Steeda strut tower brace which is black, and a rear deck emblem "4.6 High Performance" TOTAL=( $188)

#2) Air/Fuel gauge, Vacuum Gauge, dual pod, and a rear deck emblem "4.6 High Performance" . TOTAL=($185)

Which one is better to do first?:banghead:

#1, but in both cases, I'd save the money on the emblem and put it toward your next performace adder.

The only reason to really have #2 is if you have a supercharger and need to watch your air fuel. Although you may go that route in the future, probably money better spent when you really need them.

Just my .02

#1 for sure, something you can use now. My car is at fastlane right now.

Yeah, alot of people have been telling me that the emblem is not a good idea, too cosmetic, everyone knows it is a 4.6. The gauges are alot of $$$ and like Wayne said, they are kinda just for show right know. Melvin said he can dyno it for about 60 bucks for two pulls. I guess I need to see where I am at, their guestimate ia ashy over 300 for both hp and TQ. Caleb said I HAVE to see where my numbers are. I have never put her on the dyno. The steeda brace looks really good and it actually is functional too. Any other tips before my DYNO day?

wait, save up another 200 bucks and buy a used nitrous setup

but I would go with option 1, plus the air/fuel guage won't be accurate unless you get a wideband and I think that will cost more than 200 bucks

 The wide band is $399! The NOS kit is okay, but it looks like my Christmas gift from my wife. The more I think about it, I might just use 60 bucks, get some numbers, and get the NOS kit Dec.25th. Even save the money on the tower brace. That to me makes the most sense. The supercharger is too much money right now. My 3 month old daughter is not exactly cheap. :). I think a good dyno run on Wednesday, and then NOS in a couple weeks with another couple runs should put me where I need to be.

I would still put the strut tower brace on it. How about the brace from Ford Racing?

then just save the money until you have the nitrous...then buy the extras like bottle warmer, bottle blanket, msd window switch, fpss, etc

Hey Joe - I thought you were going with the roots style blower down the road ?! If so, make sure the strut tower brace will fit over an aftermarket plenum/supercharger. Also, try to see of there is a 3-point brace for your car - they are more effective than the 2-point shown in that pic. Just an opinion - forget the nitrous and concentrate on saving for the blower. Either choice though, you're gonna go fast !.

Spole to Fastlane again, for the blower kit out the door parts and labor, the cheapest route is $5800. That will put me with the other mods about 430hp. The NOS out the door with everything is about $750. That will put me in the 400hp range. For the price difference, the NOS looks like the ticket tomorrow, plus, the big thing is my wife likes the NOS price better too. You know how that goes. I have my appointment at 930am tomorrow. I'll post all the numbers. The strut brace is offered in 2 and 3 brace patterns, I'll check out both.

I have always loved my braces, one of the first mods I do. But the new cars are supposed to be a lot stiffer.

Wow - what a price difference ! How much for bottle refills ?

jnatale3
11-28-2006, 09:23 AM
I think about 15-20 bucks for a 10lbs. bottle.

I usually pay around 25 bucks. That is a good price if you can find it for that much.

Yeah, I think Fastlane is about 20 or 25, I just made a little guess-timation.

I have one of the Ford Motorsports braces that I need to sell. Practically new, sell for $100.

Well I have to say, I haven't driven the Mach anywhere but home today but MAN what a big difference. I had the Steeda 3pt strut tower brace and the Extreme Matrix System from Kenny Brown put on at Fastlane today. So my post from before still stands, buy the strut tower brace.
