My 2001 cobra won't even click. I just got it fixed for 2 shorts a few weeks ago. I got the battery and alternator checked in the car at autozone(both good they said). Recently installed longtubes, OR X-pipe, and a dynoe tune. I'm thinking it maybe my starter, that and a combination between my headers and the rain may have cooked it. Any other Ideas?

Quite possibly could have something to do with the shorts again, maybe what initially caused the shorts, was not fixed. Also, if you do not even have a "click" on the starter, check the connection on the starter itself, corrosion, excessive moisture from the rain, and maybe even a disconnection, (yes, I have seen it before). Without seeing it, it's kinda hard to tell. One other thing it could be is a relay running from the computer module to another starting component. I'll keep watch on this thread to see if you get it resolved, I'll do some research with some other tech's I know.
Good Luck,
-Joe

Check for corrosion at the starter connection. My 66 has that issue from time to time, a slight jerk up and down on the connection has enough friction to knock of the corrosion off and it will start right up. Of course when it happens, I take the cable off and clean the ends once I get to an good location.

Long tubes have heat soaked the starter

Maybe, could very well be that too. Try looking into that.

Well it's 11:30pm and i just got back into town. 1st thing in the morning I'll be checking it out with all the suggestions. one thing What do you mean by heatsoaking?

Possibly the heat from the headers could melt some parts of the wiring to make a bad connection. Just start looking in that area for signs of similar wear.

I just finished putting a new starter on, and the car runs fine. The real problem i realized after I took the starter off was a ground wire from the seloniod to the starter was disconected. I had a warrenty at autozone for the starter so i went ahead and put a brand new one on anyways. Thanks for all the help guys and gals.

As I mentioned before, a disconnection is very possible. Nice to hear the snake is back alive!
