Very good movie. I liked it better than the second but not sure if it was better than the first. Peter Parker goes through a lot of deep issues in this one. Far more plot that what I was expecting. I think that people are going to get what they come for in this one.
There are some cheezy moments and a few cheezy lines, but on the hole it is on par with the Spiderman series. I know that Spiderman 4 is on the way, but since none of the main cast has signed on for any others, I'm not sure if we'll see another one made. There is still plenty of material to cover, I just don't know how interested the cast is in doing any others.
This movie is going to be the first blockbuster of the season, but I'm thinking Pirates is going to do better.

I will have to disagree with Wayne. I thought Spiderman 2 was one of the greatest super hero movies ever made; and it still is! Spiderman 3 had too many plots and I felt many of the things I disliked was the movie being a victum of it's success. Just like Return of the Jedi, Spiderman 3 had some commercial moments that made you say, "what the heck is this". I feel it was still entertaining, but it fell short of the hype.

There's talk that Sam Raimi is signing on another project and will not do Spiderman 4. I think he's doing a new Hobbit movie instead.

That is correct. But, the main actors have said that if Raimi doesn't direct the film, they are not going to sign-on for the film. Meaning, M.J. and Peter Parker would be played by different actors which I'm not sure would work or go over well with fans.
Peter Jackson says he is not interested in doing the Hobbit and Raimi said he was interested. I also read that Raimi needs to get away from Spiderman for a while. Seems he is a bit burned out on it. Although Spiderman 4 has a script in the works, little else is on the table. All this tells me Spidey is going in the closet for a while.

Peter Jackson didn't turn down the job to direct The Hobbit. He was not offered the job over a dispute unrelated to the film. My film booker told me the story a while ago and he said the film company pretty much said, "take off". I understand that Peter is pissed about it. He apparently wanted this to keep the saga going.

I stand corrected.
Here is the story right from Peter Jackson himself....

The story about the audit is part of the story. But the film company got pissed at Peter for making a big deal out of this. The rest of the story is different because each camp has a different take on it. The bottom line, he's not doing The Hobbit. Behind the scenes, it has been said that he is sick over not filming this movie. Who knows?

I had to laugh - one of my co-workers described the movie as "half chick flick, half Spiderman movie." :-)

We needed more VENOM and no Sandman in this. PLus there was the whole Harry Osborn/Goblin saga to wrap up. They went to all the trouble of retrofitting Eddie Brock and the symbiote, and then barely used him. The movie smacked of Batman and Robin without the Joel Schumacher nipples!
The more I think about it the more pissed off I get.
