I just joined and wanted to say hi and tell a little bit about myself.
I FIRST CAUGHT THE MUSTANG BUG WHEN I WAS ABOUT 17 AND MY BIG BROTHER BROUGHT HOME AN 85' GT. THAT THING WAS SWEET AND HAULED SOME SERIOS BUTT.
WHEN I GOT OUT OF HIGH SCHOOL AND GOT A REAL JOB, I BOUGHT MY FIRST MUSTANG. IT WAS A BRIGHT RED ON RED 87' GT THAT KICKED SOME BUTT OF ITS OWN. I ENDED UP REPLACING THE TRANSMISSION (BROKE THIRD GEAR) WITH A WORLD CLASS T5Z, AND WENT AHEAD AND PUT IN A 3.21:1 GEAR WITH AN AUBURN LOCKER ,A HEAVY DUTY CLUTCH CABLE AND CENTERFORCE DUAL FRICTION CLUTCH ALL AT THE SAME TIME. HEH HEE HEE, TALK ABOUT A FUN TIME AFTER THAT!!!! BUT I GOT MARRIED IN 97' AND STARTED HAVING KIDS. YOU KNOW WHAT COMES NEXT, THE CAR HAD TO GO.
I DROVE AROUND A FEW OLD JALOPIES FOR A FEW YEARS AND THEN IN 03' I CAME ACROSS A BRIGHT RED AUTHENTIC 97' SALEEN S281. I COULD NOT RESIST AND IT IS NOW PARKED AT MY HOUSE. ABOUT A YEAR LATER MY WIFE WAS FULLY INFECTED WITH THE BUG AND SHE FOUND A TRIPLE BLACK 98' GT WITH LOW MILES AND BOUGHT IT. I SPENT SOME TIME WITH HER CAR AS SHE COULD NOT STOP TELLING ME HOW SHE LIKED THE LOOK OF MINE SO MUCH MORE. WE REMOVED ALL THE GOLD STRIPING AND EMBLEMS AND REPLACED HER FRONT AND REAR BUMPER COVERS WITH A SALEEN BODY KIT. I GOT HER A POLISHED FRONT GRILL WITH A BEAUTIFUL PONY EMBLEM AND REPLACED HER HEADLIGHT WITH SOME BLACK DIAMOND CLEAR HEADLIGHTS AND CORNERS. WER CHANGED HER REAR GOLD FORD BADGE WITH A BRAND NEW SILVER ONE. INSTEAD OF REPLACING HER FENDER BADGES WITH THE GT LOGO, I FOUND SOME NICE CHROME 281 CHEVRONS FROM A SHOP IN RICHMON,VA AND WE WENT WITH THOSE. WE DRESSED UP THE INTERIOR WITH SOME FORD RACING LOGO STUFF AND NOW SHE LOVES HER CAR MORE THAN MINE.
AS FOR MINE I HAVN'T DONE MUCH WITH IT BECAUSE I KEEP HAVING TO REPLACE PARTS ON IT. I HAVE PUT IN SOME FORD RACING CASTER/CAMBER PLATES. A NEW SET OF URETHANE MOTOR MOUNTS AND A TRANSMISSION MOUNT. REPLACED THE CLUTH WITH A FORD MOTORSPORT HEAVY DUTY CLUTCH. HAD TO BITE THE BULLET AND REPLACE THE HEATER CORE. I HAVE REPLACED BOTH REAR CALIPERS AND PUT ON DRILLED AND SLOTTED ROTORS ALL THE WAY AROUND WITH HIGH PERFORMANCE PADS. IT BROKE ME UP BUT I HAD TO LET THE ORIGINAL SALEEN RIMS GO BECAUSE THE CHROME WAS FLAKING SO BAD THEY WOULDN'T HOLD AIR PROPERLY AND WERE PITTED TOO BAD TO BE RECHROMED. BUT I REPLACED THEM WITH A SET OF POLISHED SALEEN WHEELS. I ALMOST MISSED THAT DEAR ON THE WAY TO WORK A FEW MONTHS BACK. THAT WAS A COUPLE HUNDRED BUCKS AT THE DENT WIZARD. I PUT IN SOME CRYSTAL DIAMOND HEADLIGHTS AND CORNERS BECAUSE THE ORIGINAL LIGHTS WERE GETTING PRETTY YELLOWED. I HAVE'NT MADE ANY ENGINE MODS YET, BUT IT WILL BE PAID OFF IN MARCH AND THEN WERE GONNA START PLAYING AROUND WITH IT. I DO HAVE A SET OF FORD RACING SHORTY HEADERS ORDERED THAT SHOULD BE HERE IN A COUPLE OF DAYS. THEN I'VE GOT A FEW MORE MODS PICKED OUT.
