Yes you guys read that right. I am going to be in the News & Observer and / or the Chapel Hills News in the Sunday Novemeber 5th issue. Here is the story....
There is a pizza parlor on Franklin Street here in Chapel Hill called "PEPPERS PIZZA." Well Peppers usually has a display of art and etc from various people for a good amount of time. So I thought, why not have a DIMEBAG DARRELL TRIBUTE PHOTO SHOW at Peppers Pizza. It would be a way to get my work noticed and sell some if I am lucky. I have six 10x15's framed w/ glass ($80.00 each), two 16x24's printed on canvas and framed w/ out glass ($120.00 each), and a 20x30 printed on canvas and framed w/ out glass ($150.00) hanging up in Peppers Pizza.
Anyways, a good freind of mine (Robert Humphrey) that is the director of Street Scene Teen Center (that i use to hang out back in the day) asked me if I thought of geting a hold of some of the local papers to have them mention the show I have going on. I replied "hmmm..nope," and then this past Monday I heard from Robert and he said
"I wanted to tell you that I wrote to the CH News, CH Herald, and the Independent and suggested they write a story about you and your show at Pepper's and thought you'd be interested in the replies I got. So maybe they will contact you for interviews!! I gave them your email and phone number"
Well.... on Wednesday I heard from one of the reporters (N&O / Chapel Hill News) about doing a artcile on the show I have up, me and the work I have done. So I arranged to meet him at Peppers Pizza at 1 PM on Thursday and it went on for an hour. He looked at the pictures and I showed him the picture of me and Dimebag Darrell. Told him stories of musicians I have hanged out and drank with. So, I have been e-mailing him pictures for the article and etc. The story is going to be running on Sunday November 5th in either or both the News & Oberserver and the Chapel Hill news. So.... I will be keeping you all posted on the article as it gets closer... and if you live close to Chapel Hill. AND...to top it all off. I sold a 16x24 print just a few hours later. A guy named Patrick left me a voicemail saying he is sitting in Peppers Pizza and looking at my prints and wants to buy one of them, told me which print and left his phone number. Well it turned out that he was in town visiting and came across them. When i called him i asked him how soon did he need it. He told me he was leaving town in a few hours and would like is ASAP. Being the situation I figured there was no probelm with that, so I told him I could be down there shortly. And we met up, he gave me the cash for it, and walked away smiling. He mentioned his roommate was a big Dimebag fan, so I know his roomie will flip out. Not to mention I also gave the buyer 2 of my business cards for future use if some one in his area wanted some prints.
Yup, so far things have gone great in that department, now I am just anxious to see what happens after the article runs and how crazy the phone will start to ring.. hahaha
