2 things there is a car wash here on Page road that has a nice low pressure spot free rinse that did a ok job on the 89.... now th 06 is different because its well an 06.

1) can i just use water no "engine cleaner" on my car?

2) The padded thingy on the hood can you rinse that gently is it a bad idea because it looks like it would come apart if its wet?

You'll get better results with an engine cleaner. Put some towels down over your fenders so you don't get any on it and you should be fine.

I would not get the fire pad wet if you can help it. It is designed to fall apart if the engine catches fire so it wouldn't surprise me that if it were to get soaked a few times you'll notice it sagging.

keep it garaged, dont drive it (especially in rain) and just baically keep it locked in the garage and worship it in it's shrine:bowdown:

you could buy a new one like I did for the Mach 1. Ordered mine from ford, cost around $90. I'm sure someone sells them for less... Someone told me shoe polish works to help clean it...
