My 06 GT has 160 miles on it. Dual Flowmaster exhaust and a K&N air filter. Making about 265hp now. Question is, which is the better set up in the long run, NOS by itself, Vortech supercharger by itself, or both? Car is fully loaded automatic, leather, all that jazz. I just want it a little faster. Love to show the car at events, and a nice chrome Vortech would look great, but what do you think?

George may have some insite on 05-06 mods :grinking:

My $0.02 - build your car to handle the power first with all the pretty stuff you can bolt on & show at car shows.

I personally like the looks of a chrome vortec + intercooler.
The mod bug is easy to catch :pepper:

My thoughts too. The supercharger is cheaper too I think in the long run. No bottle refills. I showed it today and could picture the chrome shinin! Hopefully I can have it done by the meeting. :)

I ran nitrous for a few years on my old car before I turbocharged it and looking back it was probably a huge waste of money. After $500 on the kit, $30 refills... it added up. If you've got $3k in your pocket, the supercharger would be really nice. And you always have it. I was really impressed by the fit and finish and ride of the S197 Mustangs, with a blower you'd be at 400+ hp and that's really all that car needs. If I were in the market for one, I'd put a screw compressor on and call it a day.

I'm leaning towards the blower too.

jntale, I have a 05 with a Vortech Intercooled, inref. to Nitrous and a SC, I wanted to spray it to, but was told once you start sparying the SC you'll be in the dangerzone, the 05/06 have been known to start throwing rods in the 450-500RWHP. Personally I love the Vortech SC, vs. the NOS, the power is always there and I have heard to many horror storys of NOS, but anyway think of everything before you buy.

When I decided to get one I didnt think of everything that the SC would effect. I needed new tires, big enuff to hold her down, with wide tires comes new rims to fit the tires, I needed a new clutch, stock clucth began to smoke couldnt handle the HP, Needed new suspension-springs,panhard bar, sway bar, control arms, to keep the back end from whipping all over the place and keep her in a straight line. Guages, to show ya how much boost your putting out, and GAS...now she is drinking the good stuff 93octane, and not bad when driving around town 18-19mpg,20-21 on a good highway day, but getting into it, she drinks the gas like a $2 drunkin ***** 14-16mpg.
A few months Prior to the vortech, I had some small mods put on that was a waste, The Vortech comes with a DiabloSport Tuner so I wasted money when I bought a SCT Tuner prior to getting the Vortech, also wasted money on a CAI because the Vortech has it's own, and Pulleys, wasted money on them to cause Vortech uses the stock pullies.

But what's awesome is getting in the car and feeling the +150 difference in HP. OMG! She was last Dyno'd at 441RWHP
Stock was dropping 262 at the wheels
Put on Headers, HPipe,SCT Tune, Pullies, and some other stuff, 291RWHP
Took off the SCT,CAI,Pullies and put on a Vortech Dyno'd t 441RWHP

Anyway hope this helps.

Yep it does, some of the guys at the show told me about your rides and said they ran good. I plan on going with Vortech. Mine is an automatic with Flowmasters, and a K&N system, and some other stuff, putting ballpark 300+ at the wheels. I can't wait to put the SC on.

it was great seeing you today man. but about the power adder. the vortec s-trim is the best way to go great for city driving and the power is always there when you want it. n.o.s. is always great but i thing a nice polished blower would look better sitting under the hood instedof a bunch of lines. thats just my take. good luck man.
