Carolina Classics at the Capital will be held in Raleigh NC Friday-Sunday August 20-22 2010. The car show is for all cars and trucks ranging from antique, classic, muscle, hi-performance, resto-mod and modern muscle (Mustang, Camero, Challenger).
The car show will incompass Fayetteville St. from the Capital to the Performing Arts Center. The show will also be using the new 150,000 sq. ft. air conditioned space of the Raleigh Convention Center. The Convention Center will hold 100+ venders and many hi-end cars and trucks. There will also be a kids zone outside near all the action.
The gentelman I spoke with said they are expecting 500 to 800 cars and trucks for this event.

To All, Let's not forget about Carolina Classicis at the Capital Car Show show being held in our own backyard August 20-22 2010 in down town Raleigh . These guys are spending a lot of time and money trying to get this first annual event off the ground. All cars and trucks that pre-date 1990 will be judged in the car show. All 1990 to present cars will be for display only. They said they would park clubs members together if everyone arrives at the same time for parking. All cars parking on Fayetteville St for the Saturdays show and display will enter off Morgan St. near the Capital building. I think this would be a great location to show off our cars & club to others in the triangle area.
WHO'S IN!!!!!!!
Any suggestions on a meeting spot.

I heard on the radio this morning that car club's receive a discount, $25 per day. Is that the cost per car just to display on the street?

You're right, Carl. I did some digging.
They have 80 judged spots and, they say, up to 800 cars total, so I would imagine well over 750 display spots plus some vendors and such.
Outside, it's $30 for one 9'x17' display spot pr. day, and it's on a first come, first serve basis. All three days are $80. They do have the club discount, $25 pr. day, but only with valid ID. I don't know what they consider valid ID. Window sticker? T-shirt and name tag? With an outsside 3-day spot you get two 3-day passes for the Convention Center which is otherwise $10/pass/day. The inside spots are $125, no club discounts, your battery must be disconnected, and you are only allowed 1/8th of a tank of gas. There are also quite a few "loading/unloading" instructions for cars.
I'm thinking I'm just going to leave my car at home for this one, and just go check out the show during the weekend.

Hey Guys, I will try and get more information today about the show/ display cost. You would think it would be less cost to display than to show.
As far as a meeting place for this event I'm thinking breakfeast at the farmers market around 8:00am. Pulling out for the show around 9:15am. It's about a 5 minute drive from their to fayetteville St.
With almost 100 members we should have atleast more than myself interested in this event. Come on people it's in your own backyard what excuss could you have not to attend.

I hear you Jeff....
The only thing could be the cost, $25-$30 just to display is a bit much. I'm wondering, does that include admission into the convention center too?

Carl I agree,
$25 just to display is a bit much.
We as a club should support others who have spent alot of time and effort putting togehter a show for the love of cars old or new.
I don't think $25 for admission would hurt anyone in our group, just look at the cars people own in our club. I don't remember seeing any basket cases sitting in the parking lot.
We should support others the way we expect them to support us!!!!!!!!!

UPDATE:
$25 for outdoors show or display on Saturday only (limited to 750 cars)
$35 for indoors show or display on Saturday only (limited to 300 cars +or-)
NO limit on the number of cars or trucks in the car show.
Pre-regestraion will get you in the show area quicker than the day of.
The show organizer would like for all cars to stay on-site until 6:00 pm, but will allow people to leave early if needed.
The cost of show or display will get you in the Convention Center for free.

If it includes entry it ain't too bad. Jeff, did whoever you spoke to mention how many passes would be included with a 1 day spot? For vendors I know it's 2, but what about displays?

Jeff,
Have Dennis send out a club wide email, you may get more people involved. And don't forget to mention this at the club meeting this week.

Ras, each entrance for the show or display will receive 2 passes for the day to enter the Convention Center where the venders and high end cars will be housed. So you really only pay $5 for you to show or display your ride on Fayetteville St.

I'm going to the show to spectate and then I'll probably ride down to Grill 57. I think my dad is coming up so that depends on how late he wants to stay out, I think he is always down for cruise ins and food lol
