Not sure if any of the HCMC Crew is attending this but if so we'd like to invite you guys to cruise back to Erwin with us for a Charity dinner for a local cause. I have posted the Event background below... tickets are $7.00 and it's catered by McCalls BarBQ . Come wrap up a great day by supporting Team Maegan.
In October 2008 Maegan was diagnosed with a rare condition called Spontaneous Intracranial Hypotension secondary to cerebral spinal fluid leaks. This is a very debilitating condition which causes intense headaches the longer a person remains in the upright position. Upon standing, Maegan's brain literally sags downward in her head. Maegan has had 1 spinal surgery, 3 lumbar drains, and around 40 procedures including over 200 blood patches on the dura and nerve roots of her spine to try to cure this condition. She averages 1-2 trips to Duke a week. Maegan currently has home health coming in twice a week. There are many secondary symptoms caused by this condition such a nausea, orthostatic hypotension, vision changes, ringing in the ears, dehydration etc. Because of the dehydration issue, iv fluids are needed. Maegan has a PICC line in place, as the veins in her arms have so much scare tissue from all the treatments. Many people like Maegan are unable to go to work or school. Through sheer determination, Maegan has managed to continue going to school and is in her final rotations in Pharmacy School. She is due to graduate this year. This condition has taken a toll on the Lee Family physically, mentally, and financially.
So, we would like you to come join us on Saturday, April 10th at Triton High School for a benefit for Maegan Lee. We would like to show Maegan our love and support for all she has and is continuing to go through.
We will be serving lunch from 11:00 am- 2:00 pm and dinner from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm. The food will be catered by McCall's BBQ and Seafood. Each plate will come with a homemade desert. You can dine in or get a plate to go. We will have a bake sale with delicious homemade goodies. Also, we will be playing games and enjoying fellowship with Maegan.
Another attraction will be Team Maegan t-shirts that will be available for sale. Get your order in early or you can purchase one at the benefit.
Please come out and join us as we celebrate Maegan and acknowledge the extreme struggle she has gone through and continues to go through. We ask that you be in prayer for Maegan as the doctors at Duke are working non stop to find the right treatment that will help Maegan and enable her to live a normal life.
Maegan's favorite quote is "the good Lord gave us mountains...so we can learn how to climb" . Let's show Maegan that she is not climbing that mountain alone. Thank you ahead of time for your support. May God bless each of you. And may we never take forgranted the ability to stand without pain!
