Racing legend Bill Elliott, along with Ford Racing and Hajek Motorsports, were all ready to set (http://mustangs.about.com/b/2009/05/07/hajek-motorsports-will-attempt-to-break-nascar-speed-record.htm) a new NASCAR speed record at Talladega on Wednesday. Most importantly they were going to do it in an Ethanol powered FR500C Mustang (http://mustangs.about.com/od/autoshows/ig/2008-SEMA-Show/Bonneville-FR500C-Mustang.htm). Problem is the weather rained on their parade. In fact, it rained all morning and most of the afternoon. By the time it stopped, most of the day had passed. Of course, that didn't stop Elliott and team. After the track dried, Elliot took the car for few test runs (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KgjrO7Mn2tU) around the track (Watch the Video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KgjrO7Mn2tU)). Things were looking good until the accident. Initial reports say a cut tire sent Elliott and the FR500C Mustang into a wall. Elliott is fine, but the Mustang will have to spend some time in the shop. Therefore, the speed record attempt will be put on hold until the car can be fixed. To follow the team's progress, check out Ford Racing's Twitter page (http://twitter.com/FordRacing). You'll find updates and photos as well as a video or two.

He will always be "Awesome Bill" to me. I was a big fan, but that was back when NASCAR was worth watching.

yea i know, i used to eat and breath NASCAR but lately i have began to loose interest. Hopefully they will use the Mustang as they have hinted at. I had been hearing on the internet that it was coming but during the rainout sunday they actually announced it on TV that NASCAR would be switching over to the Mustang.
If anyone hears when Elliott will attempt again to break the record please post it.

NASCAR used to a big deal around my house. My wife knew nothing of it until we got married and she starting sitting with me on Sunday afternoons. Then we went to Rockingham, North Wilkesboro, Charlotte, Darlington and many others. I am a Ford man, period, so I was an Elliot fan.

She had to pick someone on the complete opposite side of the spectrum.

Guess who?

It was interesting to say the least.

Didn't want a red or blue one (even though blue is my favorite color) just wanted something a little different, to many red and blue ones out there, although that new grabber blue is hot. Suppose its one of those colors you either like or hate.
Take care and hope ya'll can come up on 10/10 for the Mustang Mid Atlantic Round-up at Wynne Ford,
