I'll leave the details and personal comments out. I don't want them in print (self preservation  ).
The most important thing to me about this is that neither my wife nor my daughter were injured. I believe her decision to take a hard right instead of hitting the brakes saved them from serious injury. Things definitely would have been much worse if she hadn't done that.
I don't understand how the wheel tire is still holding air considering the damage to the lip. As hard as my wife said she hit the curb, I'm glad that it was a Ford wheel instead of an import knockoff. Don't know if it would have made a difference but still, I'm glad. Yes, she was abe to drive the car home. The camber appeared way off (bottom in) at first but after moving the car it didn't. I'll be looking for the bent parts later this evening and I'm sure the wheel is one of them.
It looks like I'm gonna be visiting Joe for some new tires and an alignment and I will be replacing at least one bent/broken part.

She sure did, Monica. They were in a line of traffic driving directly into the sun. Somebody stopped suddenly and when she realized traffic was no longer moving it was either cream the back end of the big SUV or go for the side of the road. I'm glad she chose option 2.

Thanks, Glenn. Yes, it could have been much worse. I'm going to get TWO (revised from ONE) new wheels and FOUR new tires.. all 275/40-17's.

Glad all is OK with the family. I am guessing you will also be getting at least a new tie rod end too because something else had to bend in that impact. Good point of the Ford wheels. I read somewhere (I think the Ford Racing Catalog) that their wheels have to pass certain tests and what happened to your is one of them. The cheap knockoffs don't therefore could have broken the wheel much worse. Something to be said for sticking to the quality parts... They meet the safety standards others don't!

Thanks for the thoughts, everyone. We really do appreciate it.
Dan - Mary Ann knows the nitrous bottle is empty so I can't use that one on her. The repairs definitely won't be completed by this weekend. I have to order two wheels (discovered right rear damage this morning), two rear tires (bald for some reason) and there's a good chance I'll have to replace a tie rod end like Mark mentioned.
Keith - It's funny that you say that about the slight curb rash. I discovered this morning that the rear wheel actually does have some. I was all zeroed in on the front wheel and didn't even notice it. I don't know if I'll try to sell it to a road racer as a spare or I'll keep it and use it for a spare myself.
Mark - That's the reason I wanted to stay with a Ford wheel. I know they're tough. I'll be spending about $360 for the two wheels but it will be worth it. Once I get them, I'll visit Joe and find out what needs to be done.

Keith, glad to hear everyone is ok.
I have some (4)extra wheels and tires 17" you can use until you get yours in. Triponies off my 94 gt.
We can also put it on the lift to make sure everything is ok. I also have some extra control arms and new inner and outer tie rods if you need them. I am sure we can get you back on the road before the weekend.

Did you ever find out if there was any damage besides the wheels and tires?

Thanks, guys. I appreciate the well wishes.
I'll find out whether or not there's damage to anything besides the wheels tomorrow. The new wheels arrived today and Joe is going to mount tires for me tomorrow morning. Once I have them on the car he'll check the alingment and we'll go from there.

Five months after I started this thread, I was being plagued by a constant squeak from my right front wheel, It turns out that the brake caliper was squeaking because the rotor was wobbling. I was able to determine that the rotor wobble was caused by a bent hub. Definitely damage suffered when the Mustang went to the curb back in April. Joe and I replaced the hub this afternoon and the noise is gone. :woot:
I purchased the hub from www.RockAuto.com (http://www.rockauto.com/) . It was a Timken assembly with bearings in place, lubed, ready for installation. $51.65 shipped. Y'all may want to take a look at their site.

Good deal Keith. The auto parts place you are talking about is one I have found very useful when looking for parts. It is on my favorites list.
