I know I know, this car wouldn't be **** without the supercharger! I'm SOOOOOO glad it has one, cause it is the $#!t !!!!!

Here is another article. (http://www.motortrend.com/features/auto_news/2007/112_news070427_2008_shelby_gt500_supersnake/)

Thanks Wayne for the DMV info. Now I will have to buy it! :) I just needed another excuse, other than the 725 HORSEPOWER! THIS THING IS STUPID NICE! Sorry, I am getting a little carried away.

I would have a problem with the warranty thing. Do they think the owners of the 725 hp car is going to drive it any harder than the owners of the 600hp car? They'll both be sideways most of the time. They should warranty both.

This isn't directed at you Eric, but I need to compare apples to apples and only the PJ comes to mind.

The SS package is a limited edition thing Shelby is doing. I don't have the time to show upgrade per upgrade but feel free to go to this site to see it for yourselves ( http://www.saleen.com/saleen_parnelli_msrp.htm ).

I just went to the Ford site and priced a Mustang GT with a few options and it came out to $31,205. If you take the Parnelli Jones Limited Edition Saleen with an MSRP of $61,865, that would bring the upgrade package to $30,660.

So, why is $27,995 a jaw dropper? If you are lucky enough to get a GT500 at sticker, that gives you a near 700 hp car roughly at $70,000 with the same limited availablility and exclusiveness and nearly the same types of upgrades. I believe I saw that there will only be 100 SS's being made, this seems to be right in line with what Saleen has done and I'm sure Roush must be close with its R427 edition.

Correction, they are making 1000 KR's and that puts the SS's at less than 1000. Probably going to see around 500-600 of them and not the 100 I stated.

Points well taken and from that perspective a fair comparision. I think for most of us the jaw-drop is an automatic reaction to that fact that the dealers WILL jack 'em even higher than that. :)

I still say you won't see a KR go for less than 100. Supply and Demand is a pain, and the demand for the Shelby in general still amazes me.

I think you are right. $100K + is what we'll see for the GT500KR. I love the looks of the car, but the price for performance is just not there for me. I think anyone who buys the car is going to get a head turning, car show winning, 1/4 mile stud that the common person will only be able to admire and not own.

Note to GM, GIVE THE MUSTANG SOME COMPETITION SO THE PRICES WILL COME DOWN!!!!!!

I do wonder if that will help or not. 7 years of no F-Body = a lot of pent up demand. On the other hand, ***** dealers will have a delima in that they can't easily jack the sticker too much without putting it directly into their own competition's price range (the vette). It will be interesting to see what really happens.............

If the KR is marked-up to $110K, then the Super Snake's price will be $tupid. I will agree they are priced well for the goodies you get, but the "market adjustment" cost takes all the excitement away. How many people right now are waiting for these market adjustments to go away so they can buy a GT500, Z06, or etc?

I believe the competition will make some of these market adjustments go away. The Ford dealers will soon have to share the sports car market, which will make things better for the buyer.

I think you'll always have your Corvette enthusiasts, but I think the Camaro/Charger introduction I think is going to have a tough time keeping up with Mustang. I see '05+ cars everywhere now. Add in the recent good press from JD Power and I think Camaro/Charger are getting in the game too late.

Even though this SS Shelby pricing is ridiculous, I do like Ford Racing's offerings of many of these parts - you can really hop up your late model standard $30K GT and get 500 hp with just a couple of bolt-ons, a blower, and tune. This month's 5.0Mustang mag got 466 rwhp on an '07GT with just a Procharger kit, a tuner, and mufflers!

I know this is a bit off topic but applies to the way that Ford dealers are using different tactics placing their “market adjustment’s” on cars. I’ve stopped into both dealerships on Capital Blvd. to look at the Shelby-GT’s. One dealer had the car priced with the base sticker of $30k, with the Shelby mark-up of $8.5k and “market adjustment” of $8.9k ($47.4k). The other one has it priced with a base sticker of $31k and “Shelby manufacturing adjustment” of $14.9k ($45.9k). It just kills me how they’re trying to hide the dealer mark-up in their pricing.

Well I know my answer to the whole thing.... I will not be buying one at that price.
But as long as someone will pay that price then they will sell it for that price.

How much is that FRPP "Drag Pack" - $1500 ? A few hours of labor for someone to do the gears and some knucklebusting on your own will put you at $2000. This makes it even more insulting in the case of the ShelbyGT.

Ford dealers wanted to capitalize on the buzz from the GT500 and GT-H so you are paying for the Shelby seal of approval a mustang modified by shelby american for you to buy. Some people where freaking because they wanted the GT500 to be a old school shelby. I see it as a tribute to him from Ford.

The whole ADM thing is BS dealers can squeeze supply of the cars to keep the demand high and I hear for 08 Fords letting the big sellers get more alottments of the GT500 so it makes it harder to get a car without paying a big ADM. Its a bad thing to do to the people who really support your product and really want it.

I have to agree about the GT500. Basicly SVT made that car and Shelby gave it his seal of approval. Little if any development went into the car by Shelby American itself.

The Shelby GT was to capitalize on the hype the GT-H received. But like Paul said, you can get the parts (minus the Shelby hood scoop) from the Ford Racing catalog and make the modifications yourself. Now, if performance is all you are looking for, this is the way to go. If you want a true Shelby that will be listed in its registry, then you'll have to pay the additional cost plus any dealership markup that they might be getting.

My stand is that any markup you put on the car is money thrown out. I doubt that the GT500 will get the status the original GT500's have and in a few years we'll see these 07/08 GT500's for less than sticker. Eventually those who have the money to toss out and pay the markup will deminish and the cars will sit on the lot. I think at that point, dealerships may still be pushing the markup toting that demand is still there and supply is limited, but the reality will be that there is more supply than they are letting on and the demand with a $20K markup just won't be there any more.

At Capital Ford on Capital Blvd in Raleigh they have had any where between 8-12 "specialty" Mustangs sitting on their lot for at least two months...GT500's , GT-H's, Saleen, Roush, Steeda, etc...I guess the tide of people willing to pay the mark up has ended.

Yep, I have noticed that too I'm not against Capital or anyone else making money but what would I get for paying what they ask for any one of those cars? My answer nothing I'm just like any other customer except I paid extra to get what should in the case of a GT500 cost around $50K according to how you got it. I think Ford really messed up with this whole deal first the GT500 if it was sold close to what they MSRPed it for kills Roush and Saleen in demand because they start around at least $50k for a Stage3 Roush and I think around $55K for a Saleen extreme. And then a Parnelli Jones Saleen I think is $60k Those cars all will be lower in production numbers of cars than Ford will with the GT500 but only the GT500 is staying up there in the ADM war. I left out Foose at $50k because I like the styling but its doesn't provide any performance at the moment so its really not worth it. I am intrigued by what Steeda is doing but its hard to fathom around $75k for a Steeda 525Q.

Bottom line is prices for GT500s or whatever you want should at some point come down but in the case of GT500 it probably won't because after bigtime dealers have hoarded cars from every small dealer they could get one from they are tied to the price they need to get like a ball and chain. Its a shame really Ford could have really put themselves out there but they don't seem to care that the price of a GT500 is talked about more than the performance.
