So, there I was, minding my own business, driving home from the Twisted Stallions show, when suddenly ...... sproingsnap ...... my left pedal goes to the floor. I had to drive home from 540/six forks, and park in the storage building up on ramps ...... with no clutch.
I am assuming that the cable snapped and now I have to change it at the house on 4" of ramp instead of on a lift:banghead: . At least this will give me an opportunity to do the clutch quadrant and firewall adjuster also.

Dang Chuck! Sorry to hear that! Well at least you made it home and have a trophy to remind you of the great time today :)

Look at it like this also.. at least you made it home and it didn't happen half way home.

It did happen half way home. Most of the shifting between the show and my house is after that intersection. Mileage wise, it was more than half way, but I did not have to shift at all on 264/64 or 540.

I had that happen to my '84 Capri RS back when I lived in Sanford. It was actually my clutch adjustment pawl that broke but I still had to drive it through town to the Ford place without a clutch. I managed the red lights by turning the engine off, pushing the clutch pedal to the floor and cranking the engine while in 1st gear. After rolling off in 1st, I managed the gears carefully.

Chuck, Let me know if you want me to trailer it to the house so we can use the lift.

I think I will be able to do it here .... I will know by the weekend. I already have everything disconnected at the firewall. If I can figure out the bellhousing end I should be good. Just in case ..... does your trailer have a winch?

Does anyone have a good picture of the cable/firewall adjuster/firewall installed. I am not quite sure how all the pieces align .... the instructions just say .... put em there.

Got the old cable out, getting ready to install the new one along with the firewall adjuster and the quadrant.

Got it all back together and it appears good ...... just need to check and make any final firewall adjustments
