Ok.. I have a K&N Filtercharger on the Stang right now. I have been debating on ditching the K&N and going with a cold air intake. So, what is everyones thoughts or knowledge on the two and which works better than the other, if that is possible. Plus the BBK cold air would free up room so I can add a MSD ignition module / ignition box.. what ever you call it.. haha

If K&N offers a CAI for your car, I would take that over a BBK, IMO. But if it is between a BBK CAI and a plain K&N air filter, go with the BBK. That will free up ALOT of restricted air flow. Just my .02.

Well I mainly have just the filter for it. And what do you mean by CAI?

Graham - don't get into cold air intakes - they make little to no difference on 5.0L cars. The stock air box with a panel style high flow filter will do you just fine since the airbox acts as a "cold air" insulator. Having an exposed cone filter in the engine compartment only promotes "fan wash" where the fan blows varying amounts of air across the filter to cause bad mass air readings and therefore a bad idle or even poor low end performance. If you still want to use a cone filter, at least make a block or panel between it and the fan. Also, a cold air intake that has the filter in the fenderwell can also give bad mass air readings since it has an elbow right before the meter. This can cause a lean condition, where your mass air meter would have to be recalibrated. Just make sure the stock silencer in the fenderwell is removed - that will free up a couple of ponies. On later model cars, the computer and MAF are more advanced and can adjust much better and can free up some more horsepower.

I was debating on trying to make a block or panel between it and the rest of the engine. Just need to find out how and have it fabricated.
