It is 3 hours +!! Be prepaired to sit if you see this one, but I have to be honest, it felt like a 2 hour movie.
I'm no horror guy, but the idea of a double feature with the added 70's feel of scratched prints and missing reals and mock previews intrigued me enough to see this. With really low expectations, I was pleasantly surprised to find these movies more funny than scary and worth seeing. Actually, the movies weren't scary at all. The two movies share actors if you can recognize them.
The first movie Planet Terror is gory in a nonrealistic way. There are some funny moments but all in all, not really worth the price of admission.
Then you have a few funny previews of fictitious horror films with that 70's touch.
Then comes Death Proof. It starts off a bit slow, but WHAT a chase scene. This movie was awesome because of the chase scene. Featuring two Chargers going at it til the chase comes to a dramatic conclusion. This film ends a bit abrupt, but that was the point. You haven't seen a chase scene like this since Bullitt.
Both movies are supposed to come out on dvd. Unlike the theatrical release, the movies will be released seperately. I for one will be buying Death Proof when it comes out. I just loved the chase scene. That movie was worth waiting for and a great conclusion to the double feature.
"A compilation of two horror tales, Planet Terror and Death Proof. In Planet Terror, married doctors William and Dakota Block find their graveyard shift inundated with townspeople ravaged by gangrenous sores and a suspiciously vacant look in their eyes. Among the wounded is Cherry, a go-go dancer whose leg was ripped from her body during a roadside attack. Wray, her former significant other, is at her side and watching her back. Cherry may be down, but she hasn't danced her last number. As the invalids quickly become enraged aggressors, Cherry and Wray lead a team of accidental warriors into the night, hurtling towards a destiny that will leave millions infected, countless dead, and a lucky few struggling to find the last safe corner of planet terror. In Death Proof, dusk offers an opportunity for Austin's hottest DJ, Jungle Julia, to unwind with two of her closest friends, Shanna and Arlene. This three fox posse sets out into the night, turning heads from Guero's to the Texas Chili Parlor. Not all of the attention is innocent: covertly tracking their moves is stuntman Mike, a scarred, weathered rebel who leers from behind the wheel of his muscle car. As the girls settle into their beers, Mike's weapon, a white-hot juggernaut, revs just feet away."
