Does any one know/recommend a good mechanic is the Cary/Durham area? I need to have my 68GT checked out. Recently, I've been smelling strong order of gas and there seems to be a very slight amount oil/gas on the engine block - so needless to say, I'm not driving it much until I get this checked out.
Also, if I don't use the car for a few days, then I would need to jump start a cold start in the morning. (maybe just battery - but if I use the car on a daily basis, it starts fine). Then, after it runs for while, I also have trouble starting - it wouldn't turn over (something it doesn't turn off when I remove the key).

Any help on a recommendation of a good mechanic would be great.

Thanks,
Sean

I've heard good things from multiple people about Techniquest.

I live in Durham, and I take all my work to John West in Raleigh. (John West Auto: 250-0825)

He does really, really good work, does it right the first time, and he's very easy to talk to. The shop is clean enough to eat in, and you'll always find a beautiful classic or three sitting around the lot. Usually a pro street or two to boot.

Yes, it's a trek from Durham, but it's more than worth the trip. I've used several shops in Durham, and I wouldn't go back on a dare since finding John. He fixed the **** the local Goodyear did to my truck and he's kept it purring like a kitten for 5 years now.

As we speak, he's building a 500ci block and drive train for my old Mopar. :D

I do restoration work as a side hobby. If you'd like to bring it by my house sometime, I can take a look and probably figure out the probs.

I would take it to Fastlane. I know it's a drive, but it will be worth it.
